North of town

Archer Village, and the door to Payon Cave

Payon sits in the mountains of the kingdom's south-east. The forest kept it apart for a long time, so it has a culture of its own, with stories of guardian beasts, and it is known for its marksmen and hunters. In the cave to the north is the Ruined Village. Client It is also where Episode 1 begins: a new character finishes the tutorial at Criatura Academy and is moved here. 2024 note

The town

The main gate is at the south end. The services stand along the road up from it, and the elders' court is at the north end.

Episode 1 begins here. Its first part arrived in June 2021. Iris, at payon 173 171, gives its opening chain, The Missing Sea Dragon Blade Incident: she lost the blade in Payon Forest, and finding it leads through the forest and the first floor of Payon Cave. 2021 note

Where a new character starts. From June 2021 it was Payon itself. 2021 note Since October 2024 a new character prepares at Criatura Academy instead, and finishing its tutorial moves them to Payon to begin Episode 1's first part. 2024 note The change was tried first on Sakray, the test server: a start at the Novice Training Grounds in July 2023, 2023 note then at Criatura Academy in January 2024. 2024 note

Star Emperor. A man dressed as a Star Emperor, at payon 192 176, changes a TaeKwon Master into a Star Emperor, since October 2025. 2025 note

Headgear. The Hanbok Scholar, in the north-west, makes the Ayam and the Magistrate Hat, 2018 note and Rodett makes the Costume Nine Tail Fox Wig.

Miss Buffin comes to the main gate for events — match days, holidays — and restores HP and SP in full, among her effects. 2025 note Between events she is not there.

The Illusion corner

At the north end of town, in front of the elders, stand the people of the Illusion of Moonlight: where it starts, and where its equipment is made and enchanted.

The Illusion of Moonlight opened in December 2020. Payon Elder Sanyul gives its starting quest to adventurers of base level 100 or higher; it leads to Muyeon in the annex, and from there to the Ruined Village on the cave's fourth floor. 2020 note 2020 note The enchanter was updated in December 2022 for the new classes' items, 2022 note and since August 2026 he can reset an Illusion helm's enchants. 2026 note

Indoors: the tavern, the shops and the guild

The first interior holds the tavern and the shops. The game ships no map image for Payon's interiors, so these are listed with their coordinates. Each shop's page has what it sold and at what price when a play session recorded it, on 1 October 2026.

Out in the street a second set stands in a row by the Kafra, at payon 155–163 96: the Cat Paw Shrimp Merchant, a Tool Dealer, a Potion Merchant and Packaging Staff. Elsewhere in town are the Pet Groomer payon 177 131, the Chef Assistant payon 206 119, who sells cooking ingredients, and Antonio payon 144 173, who trades for items.

The inn. Dalneomi Tavern serves lunch from 14:00 to 15:00: choose to rest there, pay 5,000 zeny, and EXP gained rises for 30 minutes. Geffen's inn keeps the same hour. Client

Each January the notices send players to Payon for the Rice Cake Soup event, at payon 219 111, beside the tavern in the east of town. 2018 note 2025 note It has returned every year from 2019 to 2025, by the notices.

Around Payon

• Payon Cave, entered from Archer Village: five floors, the fourth and fifth the Ruined Village. Client The Illusion of Moonlight is reached from its fourth floor. 2020 note Its quests are grouped under Payon Cave below.
• Payon Forest, the eleven fields around the town. Three Forest Keepers stand in it with quests — Sena, Duri and Hana — and Episode 1's first steps go there, to Hanul and the Archaeologist. 2021 note Its quests are grouped under Payon Forest below.

Every quest the game's own quest list ties to the town and to Archer Village — by where its steps send you, what it links, what it hunts, or its title — grouped by who gives it. The forest's and the cave's are grouped apart. Quests that only mention Payon in passing are folded away at the end.
