Hello.
This is the RO1 Studio Zero Team, greeting the adventurers of Ragnarok Online: Zero.
Thank you for your interest in the class skill revamp currently being tested on the Sakray server.
The Zero Team is grateful for the many opinions adventurers have shared with us through 1:1 inquiries and the community, and we have once again given deep consideration to the direction of these updates.
[Q1 Sakray Test Progress]
As announced through the mini developer meeting and developer notes, the Zero Team planned to test the update direction on the Sakray server in the following 4 stages.
**1. Integration of 1st and 2nd class skills and adjustment of acquisition conditions for some skills (applied to Sakray)
- Balance adjustments through skill acquisition condition changes
- Utilization of 3rd class skills and revamp of existing skills
- 3rd class update and final adjustments to 2nd class (Trans) classes**
As the first step, we have been testing the integration of 1st and 2nd class skills applied to Sakray, along with adjustments to the acquisition conditions of certain skills needed for that integration, over the course of Q1.
However, after reviewing the many opinions shared by adventurers following the January Sakray update, we determined that further testing of this particular content would be meaningless.
Therefore, the current 1st and 2nd class integration content applied to Sakray will be reverted during the regular maintenance on January 31st.
[Upcoming Sakray Test Plans]
1. Easing of Restrictions and Skill Balance Adjustments
In the 2nd round of Sakray testing scheduled to begin in February, we plan to proceed with balance adjustments by easing skill acquisition conditions as well as various other restrictions.
As 3rd class skills were added to some classes, we have observed a variety of opinions among adventurers, and we plan to re-conduct skill adjustments with all 3rd class skills for each class excluded for the time being.
1) Skill Tree Adjustments to Ease Acquisition Conditions
Skill acquisition conditions are mandatory requirements for learning skills, and many skills have forced players to spend skill points according to a required skill tree.
In the 2nd round of testing, we plan to ease acquisition conditions except for a few essential skills, increasing the freedom of skill builds and allowing for the use of a wider variety of skills.
2) Easing Item Option Activation Conditions
For items whose options activate upon using a specific skill, the design has often forced players to use unnecessary skills or endure high fatigue due to short duration times in order to maintain the option.
Along with easing skill acquisition conditions, we plan to remove or ease item option activation conditions to reduce unnecessary control and usage fatigue.
3) Utilization of 3rd Class Skills
Since 3rd class skills were added to some classes when the Sakray server opened in 2022, we have seen concerns and various opinions from adventurers regarding the direction of Zero.
In the 2nd round of testing starting in February, we will begin from the initial version before 3rd class skills existed, re-examine whether the 3rd class skills currently applied to some classes are truly essential for those classes, and conduct testing accordingly. We will also further review and test whether additional classes require such skills.
If a skill is removed, item options that were changed alongside the skill's addition may also be adjusted.
4) Existing Skill Balance Adjustments
Additional adjustments to existing skills — a topic on which adventurers have provided a great deal of feedback — are also being reviewed and developed in various directions by the development team. Once development is complete, these will be applied and tested sequentially on the Sakray server.
For skill adjustments, we will try to avoid nerfs as much as possible; however, please understand that in cases where it is deemed necessary considering siege warfare and balance fairness between classes, adjustments may unavoidably occur.
If a skill is nerfed, we will provide an explanation of the reasoning when announcing it on Sakray.
2. Changes to Siege War Schedule
Siege War is content that adventurers participate in as guilds, and we are working on improvements to provide content that as many adventurers as possible can participate in and enjoy.
As the first step, with the addition of SE Siege, adjustments to the siege schedule were necessary, and the siege schedule was adjusted on Sakray during the January 17th regular maintenance, with testing currently underway.
| Siege War | Schedule | Details |
|---|---|---|
| WOE SE | Wed/Sun 21:00 ~ 22:00, Wed/Sun 22:00 ~ 23:00 | Applied to Sakray on January 17th. As currently, Wednesday and Sunday remain the designated siege days. WOE Siege, previously held for 2 hours twice on Wednesday and Sunday, is reduced to 1 hour, followed immediately by SE Siege. As before, siege war will be held twice a week, totaling 2 hours each time. |
| WOE SE | Wed/Sun 21:00 ~ 22:00, Sat 21:00 ~ 22:00 | As announced in the developer notes, the existing WOE Siege held for 2 hours on Wednesday and Sunday is reduced to 1 hour, and the new SE Siege is adjusted to be held on Saturday. As before, WOE Siege will be held twice, on Wednesday and Sunday, but the 2-hour siege fatigue is reduced to 1 hour, and the new SE Siege will be held separately on Saturday, resulting in siege war being held 3 times a week for 1 hour each. |
| WOE SE | Wed 21:00 ~ 22:00, Sun 21:00 ~ 22:00 | The siege time is the same as option 1, but siege war will only be held once each: WOE on Wednesday, SE on Sunday. If this option is implemented, we are additionally considering reducing the siege time to just 1 hour to reduce siege fatigue. |
We would like to once again thank adventurers for their strong interest and heartfelt feedback regarding the tests currently underway on the Sakray server.
The content being tested on the Sakray server will proceed with sufficient testing and by reflecting adventurers' feedback, so rather than concern, we ask for your continued opinions so that the update can move in an even better direction.
The contents above are still under development, so details may change upon future updates. Please refer to the official website's announcements for detailed information at the time of the update.
Thank you.
